DD is at A&E with DH,she has been screaming saying it hurts her to wee and she was burning up so he took her straight there.

this is the 2nd time in a month and this is the 4th or even 5th UTI in 2 months.

i asked her was she hurting at school and she said yes and she told her teacher, but couldnt remember what she said.

shes had so many antibiotics its unreal and her paediatrician has been on 6 weeks holiday but is back next week, the GPs dont seem to know what to do and just keep giving us more Antibiotics.

am finding it very stressful and feel so sorry for her.

just wanted to offload in a safe place.

we are, weve been told to do so many things, dont bath her using soap, shower gel, bubble bath which we have never done as she has eczema.

put her movicol up to 2 a day which we have done.

give her plenty of water to drink which she does.

she had bloods done a couple of years ago and they said her immunity was low and she was given an injection and she seemed to be ok for a while, i phoned up thepead to ask for this again but hes on holiday.

ill be on the phone to him first thing next monday.

hiya, she came home after midnight, and she does have another water infection.

but the pharmacy was closed and A&E dont keep the med she needed so DH has gone this morning to get it.

The doctor last night told us to take her to the GP today and get them to write a letter to her paed, which we have already done so but the paed has been on holiday for 6 weeks.

so more time off school for DD, ive emailed the head and asked him to let us know how much time off school shes had so we can show the paed how much this is affecting her schooling as well as her health.

have tried the cranberry juice and she refuses to drink it,but i will ask about the echinachea and hopefully they will agree to the injection asap which will help her.

jenk1 - my 12 yr old DD also has very frequent UTI's. At the risk of also teaching a gran to suck eggs - has she had any scans to check for kidney problems?

On the first of many hospital stays with a UTI last year (no known UTI's prior to that, but she did have unexplained seizures poss due to high temp) she had an ultrasound, which showed one kidney was smaller. She then had two dye scans, one with dye into her hand, one into her bladder, which showed she has kidney reflux. This is the cause of her UTI's, and is now on permanent antibiotics. The consultant said it looks like she has had this since birth, as there is significant kidney damage, so i hope your DD gets checked for it.

My little 2yr old DD has to go for a scan next week, as it is heriditary, but i am so nervous for her!!

jenk1 · 22/04/2009 15:06

hi jetcat, yes shes had 2 kidney ultrasounds and nothing was picked up,but that was last year so they might say she needs another one.

well the headteacher emailed me back, her attendance rate is 81.7% and shes had 24.5 days off due to illness, each of those times have been a UTI.

but im going to tell the paed about it, the camhs psych is also going to get in touch with the paed because dd still wont toilet train, and who can blame her when shes in pain?

poor DD, yesterday she was crying in pain again,so DH phoned the GP who said bring her in straightaway.

they have changed her meds again and the GP has faxed the Paed an urgent message asking him to bring forward her appt from June.

We have also written to him asking him to refer her to a paediatric urologist as DD has suffered for too long now.

hope she is ok jenk1 - its awful when they are in such pain!

Here's hoping the Paeds appointment can be brought forward - there must be something going on there for her to keep getting the infections!

Aww jenk1 hope yr dd is ok, poor little thing, [hugs] xx
