We do a lot of practicing with steamy drinks and over-exaggerated faces 'hot hot hot'! I say with my hand jumping away from the steam.

If he's got some autistic traits, I suspect that he can't feel the hotness that well anyway, and may need to learn each different sort of 'hot' at least 30-100 times before he knows that it will indeed be hot.

Cup one, blue? 30-100 times of learning 'hot'.
Cup two, red? It's a different cup! Why should it be hot? Blue cups are hot! Has to learn another 30-100 times.
Cooker with sunlight shining on it that day? Hot.
Cooker with no sunlight shining on it, it's a 'different' cooker, therefore not hot.

Frustrating, eh?

Yup, gates up in kitchen. And large cuppa for you.

Amber that rings true with my DS. He can also have sweat dripping off him in this weather as he won't take his coat off and not realize he is hot.

Defiantly put gates up.

We have mugs that change colour from black to patterns when hot - some freebie gimmick, but might help somehow?
