This is the second letter we have received requesting more information, I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. Im not sure what to make of this latest request. DS doesn't have a statement yet he is in the process (hopefully not too much longer), and goes to an ASD unit attached to a mainstream school. Should I submit reports written for the statement?

Can't they ask the professionals for more info and not you? Have they specifically asked for a statement? If so, tell them it's in the process and you can't supply the requested info yet.

I sent copies of the reports we had received. I was told to write that he has a statement and attends a sn school with 4 staff to 8 children. Perhaps you could write including copies of the letter saying they will do a statement investigation, and explain the staffing and other special features (eg security) that you child needs to learn and is getting in the unit.

I dont know. The Paediatrician sent them a report and then they wrote to ask us what her address is!? They have details of everyone who works with DS. This is for the mobility part by the way. It took 9 months for them to decide on higher rate care.

I usually send a photocopy of IEPs with the application to show mine need extra help at school.

I would just send a copy of the reports and explain that you don't have the statement yet. I've never been asked about statements (mine don't have one) so I would've thought they could deal with your ds' claim without seeing his.

i send everything, that way they can't write and ask me for it. so i sent a copy of the statement with all the annexes done at the time, plus updated reports, plus a few odds from others that don't feature in the statement ie eye hosp.
no-one has ever asked me for anything extra, not sure what else i could give them lol.

if they've asked for more info, i'd be sending them copies of the reports you have - not sure why you wouldn't? just include a covering letter saying he is currently undergoing stat assessment.
