Advice for Paed's appointment on Tuesday

Hi

You guys have all been os helpful over the last couple of months. I don't know what I would have done without this board!

DS (6) has an appointment with the community paed at school on Tuesday. I understand she will take a full history from me first and then assess him.

The GP thought it might be dyspraxia (can't ride bike/great difficulty learning swimming). I'm not sure and I wonder about AS.

Anyway, I have written a list of his main issues which are really sensory related - food/tactile(clothes and shoes are a massive problem)/emotional and anxiety. These issues are starting to show themselves at school a little but haven't to date.

I just wondered, apart from my list, is there anything I need to address with the paed or ask about. I haven't a clue how these things work.

Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.

You could ask the paed to write to the school and ask for him to be assessed by the Ed Psych. Notes are good and back them up with examples that you have observed. Paed may arrange for a hearing test, speech therapist and occupational therapist to assess your child and ask them for reports. If he doesn't suggest or do these things tell him you want him to.
