No experience of this I'm afraid..just bumping for the other mums on the SN thread. Loads of knowledge and experience here!

Are you sure he's been dx with AS at 3? I've never heard of an AS dx so young and can't imagine any Paediatrician doing that... who was it? I would look at the NAS website, www.nas.org.uk I think.

I agree Davros- I do know children who have been dxed at 5, and I know children who were later dxed with AS to have been dxed with "a communication disorder on the autistic spectrum" at 3; but 3 does seem very young to even meet the diagnostic criteria for AS (becuase of the normal speech development requirement thingy iyswim)

George and Sam is a great book though bumptobabies. And buying them a trampoline would be a really nice thing to do.

I also think a trampoline is a great idea, not only do all kids love trampolining but it is proven to decrease anxiety in people with SN which can be very relevant for someone with AS. I hope they don't beat themsevles up about the diet, its very tough and I never did it myself. Most of the AS kids I know love computers and gadgets, e.g. walkman, game boy etc. Other physical things I am planning for my DS is a free-standing hammock (B&Q or Argos) as we don't have enough room for a swing and..... an exercise bike!! Should get on it myself

I've been looking at hammock seats Davros. When we do up our front room think I'm going to get one. Ds3 sleeps in a hammock and loves it.

When ds2 was assessed the Paed mentioned AS a lot rather than HFA. Ds1's Paed also used AS and HFA interchangeably so I suppose it depends on who you see.
