Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Ok I just need to say this so you can all nod your wise head while wearing the 'been there' t-shirt

DLA form is horrid, and my ds is simple, cp nothing else

Now I know why I have pretended for a whole year that he was not bad enough to qualify/too small/ not enough extra work.

Made me bloody depressed, spending two hours writing down what he can't do.

Ok, as you were, thanks for the indulgence.

Any suggestions? Can't have wine as I do not drink and have given up chocolates and biscuits for lent. Low fat crisps don't work

madmouse you are naughty!

pheasantplucker - call me thick if I am stating the obvious or offensive if I am pulling something out of my own perverted mind but when I read your name I often read it as pleasantphucker. I like it though! it makes me laugh especially when I then read it properly and reverse it in my head to PHEASANT --- PLUCKER. The 2 go so well together.

PheasantPlucker · 06/03/2009 08:45

I am originally from Norfolk (London now) and it was a tongue twister we used to do as teenagers, along the lines of 'I am a pheasant plucker and a pheasant plucker's son....et etc' so yes it was a bit 'naughty' and sweary!! (This was the height of entertainment in late 80s rural Norfolk! And I clearly have not grown up since!)

Glad to realise I am special after all!!!!

Phew I am so relieved I havent mortally offended you because you take plucking pheasants so seriously!!

PheasantPlucker · 06/03/2009 16:53

Crikey - well I did say on another thread on SN that I work part-time - maybe I really do pluck pheasants for a living!!!!! (I don't really - I work for a local hospital charity!!) Actually, wouldn't that be a really joyless job?? (With apologies to any proper pluckers out there)

Oh no, 'proper pluckers' also sounds quite rude....... !! (like rhyming slang or something!)

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 16:54

LOL I reckon I was a proper plucker in a past life! Yes I saw that, you have a rescue rabbit too! I have 4! (not saying that in a silly trumping way just in a yay for rescue rabbits way!!)

PheasantPlucker · 06/03/2009 16:59

Oh, rabbits rock! Fabulous creatures. ours is at least 12 (that's how long we have had him, and he wasn't 'new' when he arrived) so we are hoping he might break a few 'longest living rabbit in the county/country/Europe/World records!

Madmouse, my apologies, this thread was about DLA!!! x

hereidrawtheline · 06/03/2009 17:05

PheasantPlucker · 07/03/2009 15:03

Just dropped in to say that in my head HIDTL now has a theme tune, which is basically her name to Johnny Cash's 'I walk The Line', but sung as 'I drew the line' or 'I draw the line'....... This was in my head last night!!

hereidrawtheline · 07/03/2009 23:18

LOL I am so liking that!!! I am going to play that song tomorrow and alter the words accordingly!

madmouse · 08/03/2009 09:14

Glad you got the DLA Madmouse.

And as a lovely friend said to me when dd1 got the CP dx 'she is still exactly the same little girl she was 2 minutes before you spoke to the consultant. And we all still love her, and always will.' xx
