Ds1 has been referred to Tanglewood in Leicester. I know nothing about this place and can't find anything really online to tell me what it's like. He won't be going until the next school year, but I would like to know what to expect.

hi coldtits, this is where my DS was assessed!!!! We went to westcotes house first who referred onto tanglewood.
What is DS1 being assessed for? i would be happy to talk you through what happened for DS

I think he's being assessed for Autisitic spectrum disorder with a dollop of hyperactivity - I don't know if they are assessing for ADHD too, they weren't sure what was causing the hyperactivity, but they seem to be puzzled by the fact that he sleeps. Heavily.

What was your son assessed for, Bonkerz?

my ds was referred to tanglewood to be assessed for autstic spectrum disorder and ADHD.
He attended for 3 fridays from 10-1 and had lunch there then on the 4th friday i attended with DH and they watched how we interacted with DS etc and gave a report a few weeks later.
the sessions with ds involved him being in a group with 3 other children and there were about 14 different proffessionals around.
(watch out for the nurse called Jane who is very hard faced!)
i must say the outcome we got was that DS had no ASD or ADHD and we ended up complaining about the report tanglewood did, DS was further assessed anad diagnosed with ODD, Atypical autism and anxiety disorder just 4 months later.
I also have a friend whos DS was referred tot anglewood through the same DR (dr pace at westcotes!) and he was DX with ADHD but a year on is now being assessed for autism as they think they got it wrong!
