DAIRY FREE INFANT FORMULA Advise Please.

HI please can anyone recommend a good gfcf infant (follow on ds is 21months) spoke to nutritionalist would said needed to do this as ds has very had STINKING diahorrea but when i gave him cows milk instead if formula i was worried about all the nutritional supplements he was missing out on that are in formula. Have given him rice milk for now. Any companies that do mail order to europe as im in spain.

Don't know much about this but I thought some rice milk had nutrional supplements, may be wrong. Don't know about shipping it but you could ask friends/relatives to bring instead of bikinis!! You could look for nutritional supplements separately. Sure someone who knows more will be along. I do know that soya is not a good idea due to a study showing it has extra oestrogen causing early puberty.

Hi Louismama - I didn't have any luck finding dairy free follow on formula so just decided to give dd goats milk and a vitamin supplement seperately as Davros suggests. If your ds can't tolerate goats milk either then the best milk substitute I found was oat milk. Quite hard to get hold of though and don't know about mail order.

Davros - is that soya formula or soya generally which is not a good idea? dd has quite a lot of soya in her diet (yoghurts and shakes) which is now worrying me.

I think soya generally. I don't know how to find the info or a link but it seems to be quite well accepted and the snr maternity staff at UCH knew about it when we were deciding what to feed DD. Not sure where to suggest you look other than Google but that doesn't help much.... I'll have a think.

Soya can have a lot of sugar- DH1 lost several teeth as a result. DH3 is on enfamil lactofree, which is normal milk formula that has had lactose removed. We get it on prescription and have done for a year. It is GREAT! He wasn't growing but is now, and loves it. Would recommend it every time.

Punnet is it casein free should have put that instead in title (dopey mom)

There are several non-soya milks available, even if this isn't suitable. I didn't want the soya because of the sugar, and because there were other scares at the time. I got my Dr to read right through his drugs guide (they all have one that lists all prescriptions meds) until he found something better. I just sat there whilst he did it!!! That will tell him if enfamil is OK, and if not, what there is about that is good.
