Jimjams, peachy and others - have you heard about 'seeing through new eyes'

I was at a therapy place with DS1 this week and there was a book on the side called seeing with new eyes here. Being bored I had a look at it and it is very interesting, all about how in children with autism and some other neurological disorders the actual process of vision is affected and this, obviously, affects how they perceive the world. As I was skimming it I was reminded of some of the things Jimjams has said about her DS1 and his perception and visual field and just wondered if you had heard of this.
I have no knowledge of this area at all as DS's problems are physical but just thought I'd share it.
