Dd has constant sore lips could this be a food intolerance/allergy?

Dd has had sore lips for about 2 yrs now and it is a nightmare as nothing seems to help.
I think it's an allergy as she literally wakes up in the morning with really sore lips.
She is 9 with AS. Thanks

sounds like it could be, my ds has had an allergy to tomatoes in the past. At least I think it was that. Fairly common I think. He also has a mystery allergy to some other food which makes his face itch. But these come up straight away, does this happen to your dd?
Cant be of more help, just sympathy.

Has she been examined for excema (is that how it's spelt)? Various excema-prone relatives of mine seemed to get it around their mouths in particular.

Can you ask the GP?
Ds used to get a sore mouth and chin which I put down to his dribbling. This improved once he was on fish oils despite continuing to dribble, so I wonder if that is worth a try if not already tried.

Hi we have been back and forth to the gp and gp said that until dd stops licking them nothing they can do!
ogl ~ sometimes it does just come up like that yes. donkey ~ yeah the gp doesn't think it is but I'm not so sure thing is she has HC cream but it stings so she screams when we put it on!
Magso ~ Dd has tried all the fish oils and they make her more hyperactive unfortunately

she's not on any meds that might dry her mouth is she? presume you've already tried vaseline...

magso · 17/02/2009 10:44

Poor dd! I sneak vaseline on ds before I go to bed as he rubs off anything put on at bed time, and thumb sucks to sleep. He does not wake up if I time it right! Almost everything else stings. This seems to calm it down enough for ds to tolerate daytime vasaline. Hope you find a solution.

My ds2 reacts to those icecream lollies with fruit ice on the outside. All over his top lip.
