We have a 30 month-old DS who has CP and is still in nappies (he's also very tall and regularly mistaken for an older child).

We were on a FGW train (in Standard) on our way to Wales, when DS needed a change. The disabled loo in Standard was out of order, and DH carried DS to First Class to ask if we could use their loo. Guard was horrible, even after we explained DS's issues, and DH was forced to change poor DS on the floor of the canteen carriage in full view of everyone. DS was so upset and distressed and DH and I were nearly in tears for him.

Am I over-reacting? Should I make a complaint?

You are NOT overreacting. Complain!
Ridiculous that ANY child, let alone one with CP, should have to be changed on the floor. Your poor DS.

The PDF document attached is their complaints procedure. They have a telephone service (on page 4)

Thanks all, feeling tearful tonight anyway, just had to do DS's DLA application and it always depresses me.

Will put my head together with DH and put something together.

sorry you had such bad treatment from the guard. sounds like you need some wine and chocolate having to do those horrid forms today!

Sunflower100 · 13/02/2009 21:15

Complain. Thats just not on. Poor you and your ds.

5inthebed · 13/02/2009 21:26

How awful! Definately complain. I used to work for a train company, and we had petty complaints, but thi is something to really complain about!

Baconsarnie · 13/02/2009 21:46

Poor you and your DS. Please complain, your DS should not have to have gone through that!

moondog · 14/02/2009 09:38

Dreadful.
What an upsetting experience.
Get the complaint in.

Seuss · 14/02/2009 13:26

That's horrible for your ds. Surely if the disabled loo in standard was out of order they were obliged to find you an alternative?!?!

kettlechip · 14/02/2009 14:11

That's absolutely disgraceful. for you.
