Its been agreed that we go for a statement for my dd1 - So what happens now

The school (SENCO), the schools Educational Psychologist and the local support person for sn kids in mainstream have all agreed (with me) that my dd1 is simply not coping and needs statementing. The SENCO has warned me that they will probably want to wait until there are results from the latest initiative but she like me is skeptical that it will work and therefore wants to proceed with the statementing.

So what is about to happen? How does it all work. Do I get involved and if so in what way?

You can request it, which might speed things along a little. Bumping for more experienced eyes

I would request the statutory assessment yourself as you can appeal the LEA's decision in the event they say no (school cannot). If you request this as well you know its been done then (some schools can sit on such applications for ages).

You will need to write to the Chief Education Officer at your LEA (you can get the name from the council offices) and give them six weeks to reply. Note that date on your calendar.
