We have done therapeutic listening. We did not finish the program b/c ds1 started refusing to do it and dh wasn't really on board. But I think it may have helped a bit and certainly didn't hurt. The research looks good and a colleague of mine says that he has seen good results.

We've done therapeutic listening too. DS2's noise sensitivity certainly decreased while we were doing it and he didn't mind it at all. Since we stopped (before Christmas) I would say the noise sensitivity has returned a bit - but other factors (he's just had a leg out of plaster) might well be contributing to that.

thank you. do youo think it helped with eye contact/sociability etc as well as hearing?

It's actually more to do with re-wiring the brain than hearing IIRC. I think it really helped ds1 when he was doing OT and focusing on fine motor things like doing up buttons. I know it sounds a little bizarre but there are some brain studies that seem to back up the claim.

We should be getting our cd's for therapeutic listening tomorrow. I'll let you know any good/bad changes. I'm expecting negative effects for the 1st 2 weeks (what the OT said) but hopefully after that...... you never know.

Be sure you have the headphones on as marked. Dh didn't realize there is a right side and left and they can't be switched.

DD2 won't be having headphones as she's under 2, but the same probably applies to the positioned speakers so I'll bare that in mind. Thanks x

Our OT told us that initial negative effects can be a good sign - but DS2 didn't have any!
