Hi
Not sure if anyone remembers my threads just before Christmas about the problems I was having at school with DS1. Here is the link www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=special_needs&threadid=666697-Help-Son-39-s-Behaviour-getting-worse-als o-suicidal-feel#13556793.
After being given the run around for 2 months by the funding board we did get Individual Pupil Funding for him to provide full time 1-1 in the class. The LEA have however written to us to say that although this is preventing health and safety issues occuring, given Joseph's complex problems it is not meeting his needs, and he is not accessing the curriculum properly. They have requested a statutory assessment, and I need to write back to give them permission. In the meantime the IPF will remain in temporarily to provide funding for the 1-1. The suggested additional help he needs will apparently address his anxiety/ stress/ anger/ inability to take instruction etc etc.
I am assuming this is good news, they have suggested it themselves, I have missed out the stage of having to fight for the assessment. However, I now have all the forms (the appendix) and am scared of ballsing it up!! This is my BIG chance to get the help he really needs and I am scared of getting it wrong. I really had to fight for the IPF, I can't bare losing the ground I have already gained for Joseph. I am also scared that they will actually give us less than he has at the moment. This would be a disaster, the school have made it clear that they can only keep him there with full time 1-1. I want him to stay in his current school, do I state this, or do the LEA decide what environment will suit him best? He has already moved schools once in the last few months, it was extremely stressful, and he is relatively stable at the moment compared with his mental state 8 weeks ago.
I know there are a few real experts on statements on this site and would be really really grateful for any advice you can give.
