SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

DS is very controlling about what's on the TV. Help! Can anyone explain why?

DS is 4.10, has language delay, and supposedly probably not on the spectrum. He loves to watch screens when out and about - and isn't bothered what's showing - will happily even watch QVC type adverts . At home however he is extremely fussy about what he watches. Any advice/explanations as to why?

e.g he loves the little mermaid, has the doll etc. but refuses to watch the DVD of the film because "it's for girls"

Because he can?

Sorry, not being flippant, but if he hasn't ever been able to change the channels out and about (or have it changed for him) then he might not expect it?

But since he can at home, then he does, if that makes sense.

oh, i see. Sorry answered a different issue

has he heard his friends say that? Not sure why that would count for the film but not the doll, but then againmaybe his friends didn't mntion the dolls...?

Not sure whether this whole "x is for girls" thing is something he's picked up at school, sounds probable doesn't it.

I know you weren't being flippant, I had got that far about it being because he can, but I would be interested to know if there was anything more deeper going on than that that I was missing out.
