DS1 as you all know is as / hfa with severely challenging behaviours

He has always been able to eat a wide range (a blessing) but latelt has been shrinking that down

He's not exactly fat (curly haired one on my profile) to put it mildly but he has lost almost a stone and is doing things such as binning food thinking we don't know, weighing himself obsessively (scales ditched today.

I had eating disorders as a youg woman but ds1 is only 9.

Help!

Has school had a healthy eating talk? Or has he seen that new advert on telly? Might be something that he has heard, and taken it quite literally, as most ASD kids do.

Maybe have a word with his school and see if there has been any problems there?

do you think he might be scared of a gain in height/weight as part of a fear of change? sorry I don't have any more helpful suggestions?

I would agree wiht 5ithebed talktothe school , i had my nt 5 year old DD come ome telling me that shes going get fat and poorly becuase she eats lot of fatty foods. No one had thought to mention that some kids need high fat diet her being one of them lol fat hell shes about 14lbs underweight due to having issue with her metabolic rate so can only imagine how a asd child would take it

Yes there's been lots of healthy eating stuff, plus more focus on his diet due to reintro of GF CF diet (which makes him stand out)
