and I am so happy!
They called her in, the school attendance officer and the EWO, and asked her name, then asked if she had any medical problems. So she explained about her connective tissue disorder and the attendance lady went: 'oh, so you are the girl who takes the wheelchair in. Oh well, in that case we understand that you can't always be at school'. So they commended her on having improved her attendance since last year, explained that they had to set her a target for administrative reasons, but that she wasn't to worry about it, and then deliberately set her a target that was only about 2% above her current attendance.
I could go in and kiss them!
It makes a change, coming from a school where the headteacher tells you that "of course we know X is ill, but you can't expect us to be happy about it!"
It was worth it to go to appeal to get her into a secondary school like this. Bless them, bless them!
