ASD ds aged 6 ran out of school today, heading straight for the main road

Today he didn't want to go into school and ran out of the school gate, up the alleyway which comes out next to a main road. It's almost a third of a mile, maybe more away from the school. He just ran and ran hell for leather with the teacher pegging it after him. He stopped at the main road though and just waited there for the teacher to catch up.

Eventually he came back to school, senco, teacher and dh (who went looking for him too) had a crisis meeting. Have agreed to have a teacher meet him to take him into school from tomorrow.

Nightmare, he is getting worse. I think a statement has got to be the way to go now. He has lots of extra help already and has to be taken out of class regularly throughout the school day due to his disruption and aggression. School are very good with him but I fear he will end up in a special school at this rate.

Oh QueenEagle, that must have been terrifying! Good job your DS chose to stop at the main road.

That must have been quite terrifying for those involved. Luckily he stopped at the main road though. My ds2 runs all the time like that, but would run across the road as well.

Well today was a better day. Neighbour and me carried on as notmal again and he went with her. Glad to say everything went a lot better. He wandered off in our little cul de sac area before they set off but went into school, no problem today. Thank goodness.

He had his fitting today for leg splints - amazingly he sat right through whilst they did the casts - brilliant!
