7 years old! How did that happen?

Just needed to share it with you guys really.

I'm sat here at work feeling ever so slightly emotional (PMT'd to the hilt so have my excuses prepared!)

Just thinking back to this time 7 years ago and the shock and the tears and all of that.

Thinking of all the high and lows inbetween.

And then looking at her this morning and can't believe she's a whole 7 years old and ancing round the kitchen to her musical High School Music birthday card wishing everyone else in the room a happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Lottie

Dingle · 17/12/2008 12:12

Oh TC- you have me crying!!!! Big hugs to you and yours and a wonderful birthday to Lottie.

How is she doing TC? I am amazed by Amelia everyday but after 4 years of constantly battling with the educational system I am also battling with my emotions and considering pulling her out of mainstream!! Not because she cannot cope...because the school just isn't "able to" differentiate!!

Birthdays are always an emotioanl time, I too can remember all the tears and the feeling of shock and the complete unknown. Amelia has always been very confident and sociable and each day she will come up with something new....it's just a shame the rest of the world can't be as cooperative. LOL.

You made me laugh about Lottie wishing everyone Happy Birthday, only this morning I had to ask Amelia to stop wishing everyone ( and I mean everyone...strangers in the street, the Policeman across the road...ANYONE!) "Happy New Year!! LOL

Love and hugs.

Thanks everyone.

Dingle - sorry to hear you're struggling with school. That's such a shame and just so not fair.

Lottie is doing well. She's frustratingly difficult one second and heartmeltingly charming and sweet the next! Stubborn as hell, determined to do things in her own way in her own time etc etc!

Yeah birthdays are an emotional one aren't they.

I just keep replaying the exact moment of her birth, cord still attached and those dark eyes, little fists all bunched up, beautiful soft skin on her thighs, soft downy hair, and then that huge extra fold of skin at the back of her neck and knowing with absolute certainty that she had Down's syndrome.

Oh TC- if only we knew then what we know now!!! {{{{{hugs}}}}] Life would have been so much easier.

I remember my "moment" so vividly too. It had been an absolutely fabulous labour, so quick and so intense, she was laid onto my tummy and immediately she arched herself, raised her little head and looked straight up at me as if to say "here I am mum!" I recognised her as having DS straight away - it was her beautiful eyes that gave the game away for me...and all the time hubby was completely oblivious of it...for a couple of hours anyway!

I wonder if Amelia would like HSM...she is a right tomboy, into Ben 10 and Harry Potter but you should see her copy TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing or the X Factor...LOL..she is a born mimic and SO funny. My, she does love an audience does Amelia!
