I haven't posted in ages but wanted to share something because I know others here will understand the significance...
dd1 attends a special school but on a Friday afternoon she goes to a local mainstream. The mainstream school had their christmas concert this morning and although its not when dd1 is usually there, they asked her to come and take part and invited the rest of her class to go and watch. I was really touched. You hear so often about SN children who attend mainstream full-time being excluded from these things for various reasons that I thought it was lovely that they made an extra effort to include her.
Bless her, the whole thing was a bit overwhelming for her I think and she looked very worried when she had to dance and pretty much froze. But later on she was clapping along and at the end, when all the pressure was off and everyone was getting up to go she stood in the middle of the room and did a lovely twirl.
