starlight rugs/sensory rooms

Just letting you all know that Ikea have got starlight rugs for £6.99 instead of £20.00. They are black felt, about 1m diameter, soft enough to lie on, they have little star lights in the shape of a star on. Plug in but v. low voltage. They are meant for christmas trees to stand on but it looks fantastic as a rug in James' room. We were trying to work out how to fix it to the ceiling aswell! Would make a lovely sensory present for those of you struggling to find presents o if you are doing a sensory room. TFH catalogue do similar things but they cost hundreds!!

will it staple to the ceiling for you?

Yes it would probably staple although there is a thin cable that runs through the fabric. We also thought of using velcro. it would look good hung on the wall as well. (somehow!)

To attach to the wall you could get a wooden dowel rod and make a long sleeve for it and sew the sleeve to one edge of the fabric. (Or just hem over one edge of the fabric and shove the dowel down it. then attach nylon string to either end of the dowel rod and hang it all by the string on a pin. Maybe that overcomplicates things but it would work.

Hope it makes sense!
