It's not all to do with DS, but it triggered it. We had to cancel his birthday outing because he refused to get onto the bus (bloody London bus drivers are far from sympathetic too which doesn't help)

We got back home soaking wet and as I was changing DD he put my shoes into the washing machine and set it going. They are the only flat shoes I have so I'll have to struggle in heels all weekend.

He just said 'sorry mummy' and then cracked DD hard on her head with the tv remote.

All my lovely visions of his birthday are reduced to crap.

Shameful bump.

I know there's not much you can say to help.

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 28/11/2008 15:44

lots of hugs, its awful when it goes tits up on birthdays- makes you doubly aware of what should be.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 28/11/2008 15:46

How old is he?

We had a dreadful few years with birthdays when ds1 was younger. Much better now (we've sussed out what works and what doesn't). Happy birthday to your little man anyway.

feelingbitbetter · 28/11/2008 15:47

I'm sorry. Hope tomorrow is better x

Ah so sorry your having a bad day.

We had something similar with ds, we arranged on his birthday not to have a party as he always throws wobblers, but to go to this fantastic exhibition place for kids, anyway through wobblers all the way round.

Happy birthday little why

amber32002 · 28/11/2008 16:18

Heck. Hugs needed. And a large cup of tea.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 28/11/2008 16:26

Thankyou you ladies are fab. he had a mini nap on the sofa and has had great fun with the balloons.

He's three today.

he's still being awful though, DD has been doing a puzzle and he keeps snatching or hiding bits of it.

I feel like shit becuse he's annoying me, I shouldn't feel like that about him should I/

I'm planning to do his favourite dinner though, beans, spanish omelette and seeded bread. Then we'll have cake and candles and the rest of his gifts.

You wouldn't be human if you didn't sometimes- about any of your children!

slightlycrumpled · 28/11/2008 16:50

exactly what jimjams said, I feel like this sometimes about both of my children! They can annoy me senseless but I still love them dearly. Your feelings are entirely normal.

Also quite a few three year olds don't deal with birthdays well SN or otherwise.

I hope your day improves.

YeahBut · 28/11/2008 17:01

Know it's not the done thing but not much else to say except {{{{{{AIWAW}}}}}}

mumgoingcrazy · 28/11/2008 17:02

It's awful when you make great plans and have a lovely day lined up for them and it all goes tits up. It really makes you feel "why the hell did I bother". I hope your evening improves and he enjoys his favourite tea.

Have a large glass of wine when they've gone to bed!

mummypig · 28/11/2008 17:07

sorry to hear the excursion didn't work, hope tea goes well

TotalChaos · 28/11/2008 17:30

sorry the outing was a bit grim. hope you manage to do it another time soon.

dustystar · 28/11/2008 17:44

Sorry you're having such a bad day - hopefully this evening will be better

I agree with jimjams that its only natural that you feel like this sometimes. Don't beat yourself up about it{{{hugs}}}

feelingbitbetter · 28/11/2008 18:49

I think its all of our LOs job to annoy us SN, NT or anything else! Don't feel bad x

Mitchell81 · 28/11/2008 18:54

Sorry you had a hard day, Happy birthday to the birthday boy and hope you enjoy his cake.

magso · 28/11/2008 19:29

Sorry todays been difficult - birthdays always seem to be in our house too - I think it is the extra fizz in the air and change in routine! And I always end up saddened by it all!! Hope your shoes recover ( perhaps he was trying to clean them for you!) and you get a chance to enjoy some part of today!! 3 is still so young! Hope ds enjoyed his favorite tea!!

MatNanPlus · 28/11/2008 19:37

at your disarrayed plans.

hope your newly washed shoes are now drying.

bullet123 · 28/11/2008 21:39

birthdays can be very hard. I remember DS1 running off at top speed in tears and spending the rest of the afternoon sitting hundreds of yards away from everyone else blowing bubbles.

Best wishes to you.
