feel bit anxious about it but happy its the right thing for her. Only fear is not having the fundo and will she start vomiting after feeds. There was post on here a while back about this. (Sorry I sort of dropped out of that thread and disapeared after another hospitalisation and more crappy news re dd)

why can't she burp by mouth?
Hope things get better ejb.

twinklingtrace2 · 06/12/2008 09:40

ejb i hope dd gets better soon my dd is only talking small amouts since oct.

nmc dd can burp some times i was shocked when she did, but its because dd had fundo to

glitteryb6 · 06/12/2008 09:50

ds can burp despite the fundo too and also has hiccups more than he used to

i just upped ds's feeds slowly week by week.
he was on 400mls when we left the hospital, the next week 500, then 600, 700, 750 and so on, next week we will go for 800 which was what the dietician suggested.

in hospital they were doing 5 bolus feeds, one every 3 hours but ive changed it down to 4 feeds as there werent enough hours in the day!

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 16:35

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 06/12/2008 16:40

18th December, going in on the 17th for obz then have been told home the 19th all being well.

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 16:46

home 19th? Usually its 2 days min cos they cant eat for 24 hours and must show they can keep stuff down afterwards.

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 06/12/2008 17:11

I could have got it wrong then, I was going by what the consultants Sec told me when she phoned to book appointment, I assume we will be in till the Monday then as there will be no weekend discharge
Instead of posting twice NMC, hope your DD pic's up and can manage to eat soon. I wondered if you were Riven also, I have been meaning to take you up on the offer to mail you so I can grill you as you know so much, I can't find the address you gave me. I would really like to have a gab sometime if your not too busy when are any of us not too busy silly statement from Josey!

needmorecoffee · 07/12/2008 16:02

dd is still in 2 days post op and very doubtful she'll be out before Tues ir Wed. sigh.
They starve 24 hours after tube insertion then have to show they are eating and drinking plus tolerating stuff through the tube.

Woooozle100 · 07/12/2008 22:00

We were told we could be out the next day, I think we would have been if it wasn't for the second op. Dd is very pleased to be home, eating, drinking and tolerating tube feeds, she's not even having paracetamol now, despite having five holes in her tummy! Hope everyone can get home soon xxx

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:22

Ejb, glad the sickness has stopped, hope you manage to get home tomorrow, though it might be safer to stay in the hosp if your DH has Impetigo?! We have been booked into the accommidation block at our hospital, its very new and like a travelodge across the corridor, plus there is ensuite and pull downs in the room DD will be in, so we might both say take it in turns, we will see. fingers crossed it wont be 4pm Xmas Eve we get out

Do you not get top up cards where you get free internet and TV for X amount of days then its just the phonecalls you pay for?

Im actually hopefull the PEG will stop the sickness with us as sure its the fact the NGT keeps the stomack open at all times and its when she maybe hasnt enough room, its spectacular!!! I have started running her to the sink as im sick (pardon the pun) of cleaning it up.

NMC,I was told by the Nutritional Nurse that looks after DD that you need to treat it basically like an ear pierce, it has to be turned and cleaned with sterile water for first(think 10 days) then its to be turned and just cleaned in the bath or what ever once a day. Hope the redness goes.

Thinking of you all just now xx
