Has Justin Fletcher resigned from Cbeebies?

I went to our Hanen course tonight instead of DH, who's away, and made the mistake of mentioning Mr Tumble. Immediate uproar, with the two SALTs insisting that he (JF) has resigned from the BBC because it's been discovered he was inventing his signs and inadvertently using rude words. Now I remember the original story about this a year ago, when someone complained that the sign for 'Happy' was the same as the BSL sign for f* (or something like that anyway). I thought it had all been explained and resolved. But they were completely convinced that he'd been disgraced and that Floella Benjamin is set to do a replacement programme.

Is this true? can only find one reference on Google and that has some comments appended which contradict it. Need to know! They were SO completely convinced!

Why don't we petition the BBC to swap Justin Fletchers salary for Jonathan Ross' salary

well he's doing the live cbeebies show that dd is going to next week so I doubt he would if he'd resigned in disgrace........

TinySocks · 01/12/2008 13:46

OH my goodness, he does live shows????
How do you get tickets? We are going to be int he UK for christmas and new year, would love to take DS to one of those.

HOW EXCITING!

well he was on the cbeebies website and posters listed as in the show but I'm not sure if he's Mr. Tumbles or justin though?

It's in glasgow next week. not sure about other dates?

We all heart Justin in our house. But I have to agree with AmIWHatandWhy's dc, Sarah Jane gets on our nerves. Why, I couldn't tell you.

Thank goodness it's all a storm in a teacup, he seems a lovely, kind and genuine man, I can't imagine him wanting to offend anyone, least of all the vulnerable.

Am very disappointed with Justin Fletcher,i work at the Hexagon theatre in Reading and last night (29/12/10) He left a 2 year old and 3 year old outside in the cold (with their parents)waiting for over an hour and a half to meet him at the stage door, when he saw people waiting to meet him,he handed his keys in and snuck out of another exit.

POOR SHOW JUSTIN

I mean,it would have taken all of one minute to have a photo, smile and say thank you for waiting but it just shows his true colours when the camera isn't on him.

POOR SHOW JUSTIN.

Either that, hexagon, or he's absolutely shattered and didn't feel up to being polite...

signandsingcarols · 31/12/2010 11:22

The signs Justing uses are Makaton and there is a Makaton consultant listed at the end of the something special programmes, so it is very unlikely that Justin 'made them up'.

Yeah happy does look like (one of the) sign(s) for f*cking, especially if you are a bit of a sloppy signer, (not saying Justin is, know I am a bit 'less then precise' esp if I have had a couple... Grin).

Best one for Shock is the way that lots of people sign diamond when singing twinkle twinkle little star using the BSL sign for Vagina... had made lots of Deaf people snigger at hearing world's expense, (and good for them!)

hexagon,

I'm not sure you can say that Justin left the children standing there for an hour and a half in the cold.

Unless they had an appt with him? and he didn't sho up?

it was entirely up to the parents how long they stood there for - they didn't have to keep their children waiting in the cold for that long (and if it had been me, with my dds, I would have waited 20 mins max, tbh)

on the flip side, having been involved in theatre work myself, sometimes, the last thing you want is to be mobbed after putting your all in for 2 hours - maybe he was tired, and didn't want to be kept after time? he is under no obligation to meet anyone who waits on spec, after all...
