ds2 has his assessment with the developmental paediatrician(sp?) on 5th dec. Will he recieve a diagnosis that day? or do they write up a report/look it up in a folder.....?

Obviosuly i know that he won't be Dx'd if there is no need but equally he wouldn't be going for assessment if there was nothing to DX

it varies from area to area. I would phone up the department and ask what their usual procedure is. With DS - he had a joint clinic appointment - the professionals went off in a huddle for 20 minutes - and told me they thought that DS probably wasn't on the spectrum, but needed further monitoring and input from SALT. A report with more detail followed a couple of weeks later.

I think it varies. We were told ds had Aspergers after about five minutes!

Is it the first assessment or are you further on with the process ?

My DS is having 2 developmental assesments in december, then in January we are having a review meeting where the 'professionals' get together first and then call us in to let us know the outcome.
