Where can i buy PECS cards, books,symbols etc...

Dd2 is doing PECS at nursery, we have been using photo's at home but now she has progressed to PECS symbols/pictures. Is there anywhere i can buy picture cards with the PECS symbols on them, also i would like her to have a comunication/PECS book, is there anywhere where i can get one made for her?

We never had to buy these things, got them all from speech therapy.

I'm a salt.
We make them for parents and/or I train them to use 'Widgit: Writing with Symbols' package which we get for them.

Pyramid, who organise PECS training in the UK have a resource site.They sell a nice CDRom that you can use to generate pictures too.

Should i talk to her nursery group to see if they can suply me with the cards etc?

The nursery are going to make her a book but i think it will be based on things she does whilst at nursery. I want her to be able to choose toys/activities at home (her toys).

I could do my own pictures but by the time i have printed them (my printer isn't working),laminated them (meens buying a laminator) it would cost me a fortune, plus dd has a habbit of eating cards so they would need replacing every few weeks.

Thanks moondog, thats what i am looking for, i like the starter kit, i just need to find the money to pay for it.

I will talk to her nursery in the morning to see if they can help in any way.

At the momment we are seing a on-site SALT at nursery (she may be able to help), dd will also be seing a new SALT at the hospital after christmas.

Ask the salt-should be paret and parcel of her work.
Alterbnatively,I've sometimes worked with social workers to get these things.

Also consdider asking your local Lions or Rotary club for the cash.My friend is a president of the Lions and says they have more money than they know what to do with and not enough requests for it!
