Does it taste odd? Could you put it with some juice of some sort to mask the flavour?

feelingbitbetter · 07/11/2008 18:36

Can you put it in food? No experience sorry.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 07/11/2008 18:49

He kinda tastes it in food.and drink is sort of no go as he is just learning to come off thick n easy nd having to pour cup of juice/milk into his mouth and he does spill quite a lot so I wouldn't knw exactly hw much choral hydrate he was getting

we used to syringe it in drop by drop. Wait for a swallow between each drop. Its how we give dd all her meds to be honest.
Now we give her buccul midaozlan. Its actually for her status seizures but a 1ml drop takes her to sleep within a few minutes.

feelingbitbetter · 07/11/2008 19:44

Sorry, what about syringing like NMC says right at the back of his mouth. Thats how we get calpol into Gabe as he hates the taste (me too) and will spit it straight back out.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 07/11/2008 20:01

Gonna try it.Just dont wanna give it too early as he does tend to wake bk up again

The stuff smells like nail polish remover!!

N he gets really teary eyed n fighting for breath...its a sin, he is ok gettin epilepsy meds, just gave him those....so at bk of mouth u think?

Thats what I do. not too far back or he'll feel the syringe. as far back on the tongue as you dare not so many taste buds there and quite difficult to bring it forward in your mouth again IYKWIM. Its where I'd have to put a tablet to be able to swallow it. good luck

caitlinnjacksmummy · 07/11/2008 20:25

Still no done it yet lol, don't wanna feed him it TOO early

Bloody nitemare

did your doc say anything about addiction to choloral hydrate? What happens if he doesn't have it? Have you tried melatonin?

caitlinnjacksmummy · 07/11/2008 22:39

Would it help if it wasn't thick? Or am I being thick? DS used to have it and it was a normal liquid consistency, we used to put it in juice. Don't believe that crap about melatonin not working for kids under 2, maybe he can't prescribe that young?
