Ive been told that we cannot have a downstairs room built for ds due to sizes....blah blah blah. Seen the plans today and was told there is no way they can do it.

Only other option is a stairlift, which is fine. however DS needs a bigger room than his one now as its very small. My thought was he can have mine and I'll use the £30,000 to built a loft room for me. that way he will have full access to the bathroom next door and masses of space for the bed he will need plus all the other 'extras' he needs. Told they wont fund a loft room as it wont actually be ds using it.

I can look at getting some money together...???! but is there any charities or anything out there that could help just a little? I know its a huge ask but I dont see what else we can do!!

Any idea wise mnetters

what size did you have/ We were initially told gidelines say the room for dd had to be 12 square metres. The SS woman would not budge. So I asked for a different one cos ffs, we are in a terrace! The room will be 9 square metres because guidelines are just that, guidelines. Not laws.
They said the larger space was needed for when dd wheeled herself in but I pointed out that she is quadra[eglic and will only be wheeled into her bedroom to sleep and be changed.
Its still costing £43,000 though!!!

I have no experience but attended a sn money workshop recently. My paper work suggest the family fund (01904 621115) may be able to help a little. Also I seem to remember Cerabra sometimes help with grants. Good luck Lourobert.
