i today have contacted a private SALT due to no help from our nhs SALT and 21st of this month i will be seeing private SALT for my ds

it is going to be slightly costly but we have agreed we will do once a month to give us a chance of being able to afford from his dla money

she is also going to give me tasks to do at home hooray finally would of thought nhs SALT would have been able to do that

anyway nhs SALT will be seeing him on 20th at pre school even though we agreed she'd see him outside due to the difference in his speech etc at school but obviously she was scheduled to go in that day already as he was supposed to be assessed end of sept never heard from her

im so annoyed its had to come to this as i was told she wopuld be supporting us and havent had any help in yr half still happy that he will fianlly have some help once a month better than nothing

i am going to tell his pediatrician on fri as he has his 3 half yr check and hoping she will get onto nhs SALT and say she's not happy with how its been going etc

well just anted to say thanks to all that have given me ongoing support and advise and help in finding private SALT im glad i can rely on youall you know who you all are xx

yes she wanted them to be every step of the way with me and so far thinks they have been so doubt she will be happy to hear that we have been left with absolutely no help at all from SALT only tasks to get him to talk in pre school no help[ for me to do things at home feels like such a wasted yr and half

but at least now once a month we can guarantee some one to one help with private SALT and i will be given things to do at home we had good conversation she doesnt base herself on i hr session she will stay for as long as it takes to go through what we have to do

so she sounds good hopefully bubblaboy will come along better once i ahve help to help him and he actually receives some from SALT

just a shame it couldnt happen sooner with nhs SALT thank god for dla money

Bubbla, hope it goes well.
Remember, you have to show the need in order for services to improve (I'm a salt) spo please write to chief exec. of your Trust expressing your anger, and go to local SNAPO office and do the same.

Don't just feel angry and not be heard!

bubblagirl · 08/10/2008 09:57

thank you moondog its all so new to me ds dx in may left alone to try and sort things out myself only getting advise on here on what steps to take next so kind of in the dark on everythintg unsure of what people are telling me such as SALT etc trusting there advise to find im being fobbed off then not knowing what to do next

people in rl fail to tell you and to guide you guess as his young there not overly bothered but early intervention is the best we all know that

thank god for mumsnet to put me in right direction and help me on what steps to take am so grateful to all of you its a lonely p[lace with a child with ASD and not knowing what to do next to ensure he gets all the help needed
