Lovely mumsnet SN mums - I need your help!

I have just set up a charity called podnet to help support families of children with disabilities and special needs. Our main aim initially is to create a website that will become a kind of 'one-stop shop' where families can find anything they need to know in order to help their child and their family. So there will be a massively comprehensive listings directory of services and resources giving lots of detail about what they do and who to contact etc, loads of background info explaining, for example, what SALT is, how to go about getting it, things you can do at home etc etc. Basically just all the info that you should be told but no-one ever does.

The idea is for it to be a real community of parents helping each other (rather like mumsnet!) so not only will there be the core information but parents will be able to add their own bits of advice etc. So say someone looks up 'fish oils' they won't just get the basic info they will also be able to see other people's experiences and advice. The same with DLA, statementing, all the stuff we talk about on here.

There will also be a talk forum, and I am infact hoping that I can work with mumsnet so that podnet links here to the SN board as i think it is such a fantastic support forum and it would be silly to start another one unnecessarily.

So, why do I need your help? Well I am trying to get funding for the site at the moment and as part of that I wanted to do a survey to show that there really is a need for this kind of service.

It would be fantastic if any of you could spare 10 minutes and go to podnet where you can click through to a questionnaire.

Also please please pass this link on to anyone you know who has a child with SN. I reckon I need to get at least 100 responses. There is also a printable version of the questionnaire for anyone who doesn't have internet access.

I know you ladies are busy. But I really really would appreciate your help with this. The questionniare should not only help make the website a reality but it will give me really good feedback on what it is that would help you all most.

Just filled it in, it's a great idea HITC, would save so much time. I answered 'mumsnet' to quite a few of the questions!

chonky · 02/03/2005 08:36

ThomCat · 02/03/2005 13:43

Dingle · 03/03/2005 12:01

HITC, how are you doing for replies?
Not seeing my local DSA group until next week, but will try to get the OK from the co-ordinator to circulate it to the SE region.

heartinthecountry · 04/03/2005 15:50

Thanks Dingle. I think I have about 40 responses which is excellent but would still like more so anyone you can pass the link on to would be fantastic.

CT - I think I have had some from your ASD site so thanks so much for that.

I also really need people who are not heavy internet users otherwise the results are going to be a bit biased so if anyone was able to print off one copy and ask someone they know who doesn't necessarily use the internet a lot to fill it in and send it back to me (address is on the bottom of the pdf format) that would be brilliant. Or if anyone knows people they could ask I will happily print off some copies and send them if that makes things easier.

You ladies are stars .

i am not a heavy intrnet user hope you are not refering to our weight

Davros · 05/03/2005 16:19

HITC, wow well done! I have filled in the questionnaire. Only comment is that I filled it in based on how things were for us at the start, 7.5 years ago. I would answer some of the questions differently if based on now as an old hand!

SleepyJess · 05/03/2005 16:37

Hi.. what a fantastic questionnaire.. asking all the right questions that I have never been asked before.. at least not all the the same place! You can just tell it has been put together by an SN mum!

JaysMum · 05/03/2005 20:06

Heart.....there is a message that comes up which says invalid referer!!!!
Lots of people from the site have tried to fill in your questionnaire and they are all getting the same message!!!!!

Problem????

heartinthecountry · 05/03/2005 21:02

Thanks Jaysmum - no idea why that would be. I will have to ask my tech guy. I have just checked by going into the site directly and it seems fine so think it must be something to do with the link. You could just post www.podnet.org.uk and see if that works.

Keane - course not honey, I know you have a fine figure!
