That's all they told me, and considering he's already 2 years 3 months he might never get it or will he? Up until what age is it provided?

poo. I think it is provided until they start nursery or pre-school?

Am sorry to hear this. Who told you, was it the Portage Assoc? or some halfwit HV? Checked on Website & it is available in the preschool years. Don't give up.

just looked on website and it says pre-school years, so hopefully there is plenty of time for your DS to benefit.

Hmmm,, get yourself a copy of the Special Educational Code of Practice, (from your local Ed. dept.) read it and get yer fluorescent pen out. (It's an easy read.)

That's a good start if yuo want to come out fighting.

Bloody outrageous. Their problem, not yours.

Sorry to hear this, emkana. Have you contacted your Consultant Paediatrician to see if there's anything they can do? I know it varies from area to area but ours was instrumental in us accessing things at that stage.
Have you had any input from the Ed Psych team yet? I know it's early days but we met 'ours' at this stage & they arranged the home visiting sessions as they call it here.
Is there a specialist provision nursery or special school nearby that runs a mother & toddler group that you could access? You may or may not be thinking of SS long term but it may give you the input/support you need at the moment.

We had this back in June, waited 6 months to get to the top of the portage list just to be told they had too many children on their books/shortstaffed so dd3 would get nothing. We saw the paed who referred dd3 a couple of weeks ago, she was horrified when I told her what had happened, funnily enough dd3 is finally going to start with her new portage worker on wednesday! Don't give up.
