ADHD and ODD in girls any info?

My daughter is 12yrs and has ADHD and ODD. Is there anyone else who has the same problem? You hear about boys who sufferer this but rarely girls so would love to hear from anyone else. Any advice gratefully recieved.
SENCO lady at school not interested unless she has no legs, arm, blind, deaf all at once..... arrr

Can't help, but bumping this for you...My DD has a language disorder and I have the same problem - usually boys that have it so most of the information is directed toward them. Hope that someone out there can help!

Have you been on the www.adders.org website? There's lots of info plus book listings including a couple aimed at girls and a forum for parents to chat. Good luck

Hi minnie12. my ds has adhd but unfortunatly i dont have any experience of girls with it too. Just wanted to say keep shouting out to anyone who will listen. Eventually you will get the support you need. Are there any local adhd support groups near you. My ds was only diagnosed in july so we're new to it too so now he's back to school i'll be looking for the same.

I have been really busy so have just had time to log on. Anyway just to let you know that she is doing not tooo bad at the moment in school when she takes her medication, except for fighting with another girl who slapped her across the face and a couple of dententions!!
Her school is next to useless expect for the school liasion officer who really does fight her corner.
Anyway it took along time to try the medication but i am really glad we did and so is my daughter. As for the ODD i find walking away from her no matter how rude she is being really helps it stops arguing most of the time and I just say to myself she really doesn't know how to control this yet. After she comes to say sorry and tells me how much she loves me!! How can i stay angry then!!
Anyway its not easy but counting to 1 million helps!!
As for local ADHD support groups there is nothing which is a shame as talking to others really helps, but what makes me really mad is when you explain to other people why she is behaving differently they say yer my kids like that!! If their kid had ADHD they would so know about it!!
Has anyone else had the same said to them?

yes constantly - dd is nearly 5 and as ask (prob hfa or aspergers), adhd and odd and when ever you say what sort of thing she does i always get oh my dd does that!!!! Not like mine she doesn't!!!! Also she's just started school and even though people know they say oh once she's got into the routine she'll settle _ doesn't always work like that - they just don't understand.!!! It's very infuriating!
