Letter from GP, re DD not yet had her MMR.JIMJAMS advice needed plse

Got a letter from my GP today, it says hes been checking through her files and notes she hasnt had her MMR yet.

he says that the consultant she was under states there is no contradiction for her to not have the injection and wonders if we would like to make an appointment to discuss it.

Has anyone ever heard of GP,s writing to patients like this?

FWIW, DD will NOT be having the MMR, she is already on the autistic spectrum as is her brother,me,her cousin and 2 other people in the family, she also suffers with chronic constipation and has been on movicol for 2 years, so we decided not to take any chances.

i get letters several times for dd2.

i keep meaning to phone up and say she wont be having the booster done.

We had similar for ds2 when i telephoned the surgery & confirmed he would not be having the MMR booster they explained that everytime i asked for a repeat prescription & his record was opened by the DR it "flagged" the fact that he had not had the jab & generated a letter.
Once i explained that we didin't intend to have him vaccinated they amended his records & have never had another letter.

oh thats put my mind at ease!!!

just thought it strange that they say her consultant gives the go ahead.

I didn't get a letter. Neither of my Ds's have had the booster after the youngest was diagnosed ASD. We got the heavy scare talk from one of the GPs at our practice about what terrible, negligent parents we are and 'on our heads be it'.

I had a phone call from my GP's recently to inform me that DS1 hasn't had his pre-school booster yet.

I politely informed the receptionist that I was aware of this and that he wouldn't be having it, however thanks for letting me know.

She said that was fine and I haven't heard anything since.

Did have a bit of pressure from a paeditrician (not my usual one, actually I think he was a registrar?), after visiting our paeditrician with DS1.

He was quite adamant that we should reconsider and when we couldn't be persuaded to change our minds, he tried very hard to get us to agree to a meeting to discuss it.

Again we thanked him but said we would have to decline as it wasn't up for discussion in our mind.

We haven't heard anything since, but I didn't really expect to as he has now moved on (new registrar there now, think they must be training periods for them) and our usual paeditrician is very supportive of our decision.

I wouldn't worry if I was you, either way just stand your ground and don't feel pressured into anything.

My GP asked me to write a letter stating my reasons for not giving the jabs - he said it was so that he could get the HA off his back. Never heard anything since.

When ds2 or ds3's notes come up on screen 'MOTHER REFUSES ALL VACCINATIONS' flashes across the top. My Mum was cross and said it should say PARENTS not MOTHER

I've never had any problems - except with one nurse who started giving me a lecture. The GP turned round and said 'I think Mrs Sphil is entitled to make up her own mind given the circumstances' . The nurse looked like she'd swallowed a brick .

When Ds1 was in hospital last week they asked about vax - I told them he hadn't had the MMR booster and for once they didn't ask for an explanation, which surprised me.

I got the 'on your head be it, you wench of a mother who obviously doesnt care one jot about the health and wellbeing of her children' lecture. I smiled sweetly and insisted that he still wouldnt be having it. the letters continue...

Apparently they are writing to everyone at the moment, was on the news this morning.

Just heard something about this on the radio.

Some official spouting biased and scaremongering nonsense.

So must be a new initiative or something.

When I spoke to my GP about how concerned I was that DS still hadn't hide nor hair of a paed appointment after 10 months on the waiting list for ASD assessment, she gave me a lecturing about not labelling kids and in virtually the same breath nagged me about pre-school boosters!! tactful eh...

one question - the DTP booster is a separate needle from MMR booster? As I would like him to have protection against Tetanus but not inclined to risk the MMR.

Totalchaos - yes the dip/tet/pertussis/polio vaccine is all in one, in one arm, and the MMR (if you want it) is in one injection in the other arm.
