Hi, my friends ds is one on sat. he has mild cerebral palsy, ie, he is not quite sitting unaided yet but is doing well.

I would like to get him something that would challenge him and be really useful in his development.

Anybody got any tips ?

My DS has CP and was at a similar stage on his 1st birthday. We got him an ELC flashing lights drum, it was fantastic, it enouraged open handed hitting on the top to get the lights and music, finger pointing and pressure to change the 'tunes' and then when he started to move, (much much later) it rolls and plays a sound encouraging him to follow. Will try to find it and link to it.

we had one too - they are super - is it the one that plays a funky tune too? dd2 loved it, and all you had to do was whack it - really good cause and effect.

next b-day get him a xylophone - bit more fine motor in the way of a grasp, but same principle!

Yup, second the xylophone, we got that at christmas for DS1 about 9 months after the drum!
