How's everyone's start going?
I'm finding that my DS (most likely auDHD, we're still in the assessment process) has ramped up hugely in explosiveness at home. He has always been quick to shout and explode but now the intensity of his meltdowns has increased so much, and he's being more frequently violent and threatening. I am always to blame and he finds any hint of criticism unbearable. Obviously he's getting bigger too, and it can be frightening, especially when I'm driving. And he's often regretful afterwards, he is distressed and says negative things about himself.
The first 2 weeks were ok, he's really bright and was looking forward to learning. He has visual and mobility differences, as well as being ND so he does stand out and getting round the school is that bit more difficult for him. It's been difficult socially, he's led a sheltered life up til now at a tiny village school. But now he has been bullied for the past few weeks which changed everything. We finally got him to agree to me reporting a week ago and the school seem to have clamped down on it, although the experience has terrified him.
He's so on edge and I feel for his little sister, it's awful hearing him crash about and be so distressed, let alone be in the same room.
At the same time he's so enthusiastic about his interests, his mood can go up and down in an instant. He's doing well at school and has rarely exploded, he keeps it all in.
I'm really hoping he calms down in the next few months. It just seems to get harder in many ways the older he gets. He was an easy child as a toddler, looking back.
Can anyone relate?
