Hi everyone. Wondering if anyone else has been through this. One of my children has SEN and I've been trying to get them an EHCP before they transition to high school as they will struggle. Their primary school refused 4 previous requests for an EHCP to be made and had to be dragged kicking and screaming to make an IEP for the child. I have reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act as I am disabled and cannot participate in meetings in the usual way. I had to put a stop to a zoom meeting the school arranged when staff demanded I speak live during the call, started firing many questions at me, overloading me with masses of solely verbal information (no prior questions or information sent ahead of the meeting so preparing for it was not possible) and not waiting for me to type my responses. The tone of the staff was sneering and aggressive demanding a response while I was typing. I believe this was all intentional to cause me as much stress as possible to make me go away and not pursue the EHCP application. Has anyone else been through this? Were you able to enlist the help of a disability advocate? I don't want my child's education to suffer because the school are more concerned with being hostile and using bureaucratic blocks instead of helping my child. Thanks in advance.
