Struggling with my AuDHD pre-teen's constant talking and finding practical support

I have an AuDHD pre-teen, they don’t stop talking at you, every silence must be filled with data dumping or noises. It’s very severe ADHD with mid to moderate ASD, they aren’t in mainstream and have significant daily struggles.

I am also AuDHD and I feel myself not wanting to spend time with them.

The NHS team are no practical help beyond increasing medication and I don’t know what to do, the constant talking either bores me or pushes me over the edge so I shout.

I have no idea how to communicate this to them or how we can improve this.

Does DD have SALT and OT input?

Some people have success with getting DC to monologue into a dictaphone rather than at you. Although this doesn’t stop the noise.

Noise cancelling headphones/earphones for you.

You should try to get therapy for the child so that there is a better solution for all the noises the child is making. It will help you to manage them accordingly and you won't be losing your temper.

We did try therapy but it was a bit rubbish.

How do I find a good one?

No SLT or OT, despite me begging for OT as they are so hypermobile to struggle physically, I suspect GP will push back to CAAMS so happy to pay for private as long as it’s good.

I do know an amazing SLT so is it worth asking them for recommendations?

Are you in England? If so, OT and SALT (and other types of therapies) can be included in DC’s EHCP. Although you may have to appeal.

I would look for someone who can write a good report and try to get provision in the EHCP.

For OT you could try: Aniesa Blore, Melinda Eriksen, Diana Pierags, Jo Woods, Donna Podesta, Nikki White, Holly Fenton, Lucy White, Laura Jepson, Children’s Choice OT, Laura Graham, Mary Cunningham, Julia Metcalf, Alex Hermann, Shelly Reid, Sarah Chierico, Dawn Frith, Jenni Cromey. I have tried to include a range of people from across the country. Although many travel for good OTs.
