Has anyone's toe-walking child needed orthotics for hypermobile ankles?

Hi I was wondering if anyone cam
advise please I’m unsure if I’ve posted this under the correct category…. my son has attended a occupational therapy appointment who then referred him to physio he had
his first appointment yesterday and he agreed then my sons ankles are over loose and flexible which has caused his hamstrings to tighten also he’s a toe walker he can’t walk any longer than 5 minutes without been in pain the physio said it’s easy to see why with his muscles and has referred him to orthotics for possible splints / insoles he said I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar position and what happened ?

My son has had the same issues with hypermobility and loose ankles. He wears insoles which I get from the physio. He was also given a lot of physiotherapy in the beginning when he was diagnosed which helped with tight calves.

One of the recommendations from his physio was to wear trainers for school which helps him as trainers seem to be more supportive.

A gait analysis (offered at some sports shops) might also be useful.

A couple of years down the line and he walks much better now but there are still occasions when he needs to be reminded to walk heel to toe.

Is there anything in particular that you want to find out?
