Just want a hand hold really from people who understand. My autistic daughter did a short performance tonight - amazing and brave of her. My son and I went to watch. When she saw us in the front row she came over and said she would only perform if we weren’t there. We left immediately of course. She can be unhappy with us watching (sports day and stuff like that) - but I had checked that we could go beforehand. Her little brother coming was a late addition (which she’d know about this morning) and clearly tipped the balance. He was gutted (he’s 6), as was I. It’s really hit me tonight (terrible timing, huge day at work tomorrow). I’ve had a big cry about it and will be fine, but it made me feel really sad for the things we miss out on.
