Hiya my almost 3 year old son has not long been granted DLA middle rate care, and just wondering what discounts / help etc we could get going forward? He has autism. I have already updated UC as am a single mom who works part time. I'm brand new to this x

Depending on your earnings, you may be eligible for carer’s allowance. This is deducted £ for £ from UC but it is still worth claiming because CA gives a better class of NI credits than UC.

If DS attends nursery, let them know. They can apply for Disability Access Funding because DS receives DLA.

Some places/attractions offer reduced entry for disabled people. Some use DLA as one of the eligibility criteria, but others don’t. Similarly, some offer reduced price or free carer entry and some of those places use DLA as evidence a carer/essential companion is required.

There are various grants for DC with disabilities. Not all linked to DLA itself, but something you could look at. If there is anything specific you need a grant for, post, and someone may have a suggestion.

Also not related to DLA as MRC DLA doesn’t automatically qualify for a blue badge, but if you think it is required, you can apply and DS can be assessed.

For you as a carer, have a look at Carefree. Although you can’t take the person you care for.
