Help with occasional school transport for two children with EHCPs

Would there be any help available to help me get my dc aged 13 and 12 to and from school occasionally? 12 year old runs into the road so isn't safe and he also stuggles with public transport because of the waiting (I can't drive due to my own disability). Dh does it mostly with inlaws helping when he works away. Inlaws have announced that they can't help anymore. Dc are both in our catchment secondary school with an ehcp, about 2 miles away. I'm thinking either a special needs buggy for 12 year old or reins but I don't know.

If DC can’t reasonably be expected to walk to school because of their disability, you can apply for transport. This wouldn’t be just for occasional times though.

If you are looking at an SN buggy or wheelchair, you could look at charity funding.

Thankyou. I don't think that would work because they have clubs after school some days. I will ask if they can have school transport on certain days only.

Do you think a wheelchair or SN buggy is a sensible option? Just wondering as I get horrified reactions from some people for even mentioning it as an option but I know loads of children and adults with autism who use wheelchairs or SN buggies for safety reasons rather than physical disabilities. The problem with ds is that he has a very spikey profile so he can do sudoku but is severely emotionally delayed and doesn't understand a lot of things.
