OMG im so sad i was sat here transfixed! what is it with me???

laminating, binding, cropping, slicing, sticking, folding, labeling, pens and pencils of every description.. I LOVE IT. Do you reckon its an illness, and all these stores cash in on our misfortune?

MUM23ASD · 23/06/2008 12:40

You are NOT alone!!!

ONE of my obsessions to do with my OCD is STATIONARY!!!

Oh Gosh, laminator porn!

Can't live without mine now.

I got a good deal at Partners a couple of months ago - if you bought 200 A4 pouches you got the laminator free. Well, I had to hadn't I? So now I've got a spare just in case.

Off to browse a bit more...

MUM23ASD · 23/06/2008 12:46

( yes...i have a spare laminator...just in case!!!!)

OP posts:
misscutandstick · 23/06/2008 13:02

ahhhh but!!!! Justification coming = I HAD to USE my 'just in case' laminator... good job i had one!

hmmm... so, i suppose i will have to get another "just in case" laminator, and a few new pockets, and maybe some of those nice picture pockets too...

TotalChaos · 23/06/2008 13:06

rofl at the "just in case" laminators!

I've recently succumbed to a tesco value laminator - useful for the speech therapy exercises, and want to set up some photo pages for out and about with DS.

MUM23ASD · 23/06/2008 13:10

my spare one is the tesco one... i've had it 'spare' for 2 years!!!!

And everytime i find 'different' pouches...i have to buy them!

Once i found a set that had 'colour backed' shhets...and 'Matt' finish sheets!!!
Ooooo Errrrrr!!!

oh god yes...i got my first Lami last year and i blardy love it
In fact today (on reading the little pouch laminator thread), i went and brought some little credit card size pouches from rymans (3 for 2 dontcha know) for ds. I (errm i mean he) needs them for pocket size time tables on a boingy keyring for when he starts secondary school in Sept.
Mind you...i have got a bit of a stationary fettish thing going on anyway. Those Lidl pouches look good ..haven't got one near here though.

misscutandstick · 23/06/2008 13:36

Total- aye thats how it starts.."useful" and before you know it, its "essential", and "need a spare...just in case"...

MUM23 - ahh wow, love the coloured bits... i heard about some elusive 'border' ones too, never managed to track em down and stash em tho

Troutpout - DS (ahem) needed me to laminate his trading cards... actually he wasnt too pleased when id finished my masterpiece cos they wouldnt fit in his box thing anymore and DS was in a bit of a state when he couldnt get his prized animal flashcards back in the box either. I WAS ONLY trying to keep them clean...

If i can get it thru the laminator, its in there... thats why ive broken 2 already, trying to stuff "not quite small enough" stuff thru it (tip: dont try fresh flowers either, they go well manky)

Whats best thing anyone else has laminated?

actually..
{stands up, and raises right hand} my name is keeley, and im a laminaholic... {hangs head in shame and shuffles feet}

TotalChaos · 23/06/2008 13:44

rofl misscutandstick - particularly at the advice about not laminating fresh flowers. sounds like this laminating is as addictive as crack!

cyberseraphim · 23/06/2008 13:46

don't try it with foetal scan photos - it ruined one of mine - fortunately not a 'good' one.

misscutandstick · 23/06/2008 14:07

oooh, dont try magnetic sheet either, it just sticks to the rollers and busts the machine, and we ALL know where that leads. Dont ask why i thought that magnetic sheet needed laminating, i dont want to talk about that...in case the evidence incriminates me.

MUM23ASD · 23/06/2008 14:50

...and don't try 'being clever' as i did...by cutting up a sheet into small pieces (rather than buying proper mini pouches) in order to laminate 2" square pictures....and threading them directly into laminator - in a row- 5 at a time...(instead of between 2 pieces of card)...and then waiting...and waiting...and waiting...for them to come out the other side...

to find they'd separated up and rolled round the roller- in a tangled mess...which started to burn!!!

(however did get my Degree in Laminating Assistance (DLA) once i'd turned it off...took it apart...peeled off the roller all the bits of melted plastic and charred paper.....and reassembled it....AND IT STILL WORKED!!!!! )

However to this day it rattles...probably due to the 2 little bits i couldn't work out where to screw back in when i re-assembled it!!!

Hey, you're all giving me ideas. DD loves crafty stuff and I'd never even THOUGHT of laminating. We could do stuff with photos and animal pictures and reward stickers and...wow! whole new universe opening up!!!

persil36 · 23/06/2008 15:35

but it starts off innocently like that - but look at mum23 to see where it ends up - in a months time we'll be laminating our best undies !

TotalChaos · 23/06/2008 15:35

aaarghh wrong login YET AGAIN!.

misscutandstick · 23/06/2008 17:15

but ENJOYING IT!

KarenThirl · 23/06/2008 19:04

We laminated some butterly wings last week, ds found them on the floor at a butterfly farm place so they weren't being used . He was chuffed to bits because they'll last forever now.

misscutandstick · 23/06/2008 20:21

EUGH!!!! i mean - wow, how inventive!

coppertop · 23/06/2008 20:37

Stationery and laminators all on one thread?

MUM23ASD · 23/06/2008 21:34

Brioche....and if you start laminating...you'll need VELCRO too.....every good laminator has a stash of velcro too!!! ( stick 'prickly side' to 'reward' stickers- and then they attatch beutifully to a felt covered board)+
