ds1 told me what he did at school today

ds1 got back from school - I said "what did you do today?" then I said "I went to...." (this is our normal "conversation" that we have every day) and paused waiting for him to say "mmm" (school). And he said "gee gin" (swimming). And he did!!!! (I checked in his book).

First time he's ever told me what he did.

Well done that boy. Bless him. That brought tears to my eyes. He must love it there, mustn't he?

soapbox · 25/01/2005 21:01

That's lovely Jimjams - I get the impression from your posts that he's really enjoying it there

Jimjams · 25/01/2005 21:02

And my mum's neighbours little boy told his mum that he was pleased ds1 has left his school (the mainstream one) as "he used to stand out in the playground and cry, so it'll be nicer for him to be somewhere else" That brought tears to my eyes. (It may not be as bad as it sounds as he had a car obsession going on and used to stand outside screaming when you tried to get him away from car watching). But still definitely better off where he is now.

And yesterday he went on the school bus to a playground he refuses to go to with us and had a whale of a time. Little sod!

Well done ds, what an acheivement. Already the benefits of the new school are starting to show! I have seen pictures so I can even picture ds now!!!!

Oooohhhhhhhh! wonderful I could almost cry. I am so pleased. A perfect end to my day. Hugs

soapbox · 25/01/2005 21:04

I think so often with this parenting lark that you just get a 'gut feel' when things are right that its hard to articulate properly!

I get the feeling that both you and your DS just know that this school is right!

How's the babe settling in - are you getting much sleep??

Blossomhill · 25/01/2005 21:06

Sorry it upset you jimjams but at least it confirms that you definitely did the right thing. xxx

redsky · 25/01/2005 21:07

ThomCat · 25/01/2005 22:36

So pleased to read this post and so pleased it was from you. Means the world doesn't it, a coverstaion, real communication.

Really pleased for you.

I had a similar, but smaller scale thing today.
Took Lottie to school. Walked her round building and she could hear all the other kids. She looked at me and said 'friends' which I understood because she signed it at the same time.

Feel good factor - sky high.

arrrrrrrrh thats lovely

that is something I am so badly waiting for!!

Every day I ask Ellie what she did and she says the same thing each time whether she has done it or not.

She doesnt seem to be able to tell me things she has done

eidsvold · 26/01/2005 09:27

You may have mentioned in another thread that I have missed but how is ds1 coping with the arrival of ds3 - sounds from this that it hasn't thrown him too much off course?
