AuDHD & moving to UK from overseas: does the NHS accept overseas diagnosis and continue medication?

Will the NHS accept diagnoses of autism and ADHD from overseas, and continue the medication that the child is already on?

My 9yo DS, dx ASD and ADHD, UK citizen currently living overseas, wants to attend music school in the UK. Musically he'd get in but they'll probably toss him because of the AuDHD. If he gets in, though, will he have access to a (waiting list for) paediatrician who can prescribe ADHD medication and have oversight of the ASD?

Or would the NHS put him on a waiting list to get re-diagnosed?

For the ADHD, in lots of cases it is a child and adolescent psychiatrist/prescribing nurse who initiates medication rather than a paed. In many cases, the GP then takes over shared care. Whether they will accept the diagnosis without reassessment will depend on the service and where/who originally diagnosed. Even if they accept the diagnosis without another diagnostic assessment, there is likely to be a waiting list for them to take over medication and in some cases that is years.

For the ASD, in many cases, there isn’t ongoing paed involvement long term after diagnosis.
