SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

I think that even without an official diagnosis I can be pretty sure that ds has Aspergers.

Hee he . Bet you can't wait till tommorrow night.

coppertop · 09/06/2008 20:38

If nothing else it should certainly send him to sleep.

ALMummy · 09/06/2008 20:47

Well I suppose the big question is how such a book came to be in our possession.

It was marked 70% off in Waterstones (yes really!!!) and DS would not leave the shop without it. DH kindly bought it for him and then p*ssed off to work leaving me to do the honours. I owe him one.

YOu think you've got worries - this one
has been 6yo ds's favourite for months now! What I don't know about tractors...

ALMummy · 09/06/2008 22:42

Oh toobusymum I feel your pain. There is nothing like the despair of being presented with such a book for the 10th night in a row. I honestly could cry with boredom sometimes.

I see I could make a fortune renting myself out for story reading for children with an interest in tractor and car park books. I'd never get bored

Buckets · 10/06/2008 14:26

Oh bless them all . Last time we farmed our kids out for a night, my dad read DS a whole article about rockets from the encyclopaedia, both completely wrapt apparently. Who says it aint genetic?

BriocheDoree · 10/06/2008 19:19

OMG too busy mum! My father-in-law restores old tractors and OWNS a 2-cylinder John Deere. I should introduce your DS!!

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 10/06/2008 19:23

I rather like the look of that car park book. In fact I am interested in car parks. Good on your DS, I say!

toobusymum · 11/06/2008 19:59

Brioche, your father in law would love him! And DS would love your FIL! We go along to tractor fairs (I know, I know!) and DS just charms the old boys by asking just the just questions and coming out with the most incredible facts!
We are also quite knowledgeable about most rescue vehicles...

ALMummy · 11/06/2008 20:27

Did you say Rescue Vehicles? Every day as a treat we print off one picture of a rescue vehicle of some kind. DS bedroom is papered with them.

I suggested DS be a paramedic or a fireman when he is older and he said "No, a postman and I will deliver letters to police stations, hospitals and fire stations and see all the ambulances, police cars and fire engines every day".

My ds flips from one thing to another, there is nothing he does'nt know about volcanoes, war planes, earthquakes etc etc. Still I am learning all the things I should have at school when I was too busy not paying attention

toobusymum · 11/06/2008 21:13

ALMummy, bless his heart! What a star!

ALMummy · 12/06/2008 12:56

Well DS took Car Park Heaven and Hell into school on Tuesday for Show and Tell and guess what? THEY LOST IT! . So there was a major meltdown at school yesterday with DS refusing to co-operate all day. When I asked him why he said "I was being a detective to find my book, I can t sit down till I find it" .

So I hotfooted it down to the book shop we got it in before and found another copy thank goodness now reduced to £1.00. I was so chuffed. So now we have purchased two copies of this book. We are probably responsible for all profits made by the author actually.

What are the odds someone else didn't fall in love with it and stick it in their PE bag?

ALMummy · 14/06/2008 10:35

Car Park Heaven and Hell found and sent home yesterday. Now we have two copies. Somehow I didnt think we had seen the last of it.

Well Dt1 is obsessed with cars and he has to get "Whatcar" each month. He bores us rigid with Brakehorse powers, maximums speeds etc. His favourite birthday present the day before yesterday was the August version, well along side the Speed racer Nintendo game. He is as NT as you can get
