Do you ever feel like your being punished for having an child with SN?

Not only am I asked to attend several unhelpful appointments that do not help at all, I have to fill out blardy questionnaires about all the flipping services Im receiving. They must think I don't have enough to do. The health visitor is demanding to see DS even though I have said its unnecessary she is insisting to the point of coming to my house uninvited. I feel like Im being checked up on. The last questionnaire I filled I was hounded for we only used the service for 5 sessions.

I would write to the person who is the supervisor of the HV and express your concerns that she is basically harrassing you. I think if your ds is already being seen by a paediatrician or someone like that then it is totally unnecessary. I would also tell them she is being very pushy and should she arrive at your home uninvited, you will not be opening the door to her. She can turn up unannounced but she cannot come in unless you invite her in.

She already tried to come to my house but couldn't find it and I was at work anyway.

Really fed up of all the intrusive questions and suggestions (potty training/ etc) and being sent links to parenting courses etc. I think they think I must be incompetent because I have a child with ASD. The health visitor not so subtly asked to see my Ds over lunch time wtf is that about.

Our HV was a bit of a pain too. After DS was born she insisted on dropping by every week, even though he was being seen by 24 different specialists at the time. She'd even come up to the hospital when he'd been admitted, just so she could fill in that silly red book . When you've already discussed your problems with each and every doctor you see, you resent having to do it again for someone who isn't actually going to be any help to your family. I suppose they think mums of SN needs more support than others, when in fact you'd prefer less, if it means dropping another appointment. At least their intentions are good, I suppose

After all the pead./speech/hearing appointments the school nursery still wanted to get together with my health visitor to discuss ds (pre-dx). My health visitor kept missing scheduled appointments so finally school got their HV to come in - she then proceeded to ask me the usual 'do you go to toddler groups', 'does he line his cars up' tripe at which point I flipped and asked why all these healthcare folk can't share information and why do I have to answer same questions all the time. In all fairness she agreed and stopped asking the dumb stuff. I really wish they'd realise the last thing you want with an ASD child is unnec. or pointless appointments. Sorry ranted a bit but it brought back memories!
