2 year old struggling in nursery

Hi,
My 2 year old recently started nursery. He is 2 years 3 months to be precise. He is just hyperactive, hitting other children, throwing things, not sitting still at all, high pitched screaming and sometimes spinning while side glancing.

Different child at home.

I don't know where to start or who to get in touch with about getting him some sort of assessment.

Any help appreciated, thank you

Speak to the nursery and the HV. Before you speak to the HV, it might help you to look at the Ages and Stages questionnaires and the MCHAT.

What support is the nursery providing?

I have spoke to HV, she sent me out an Age's and States Questionnaire for 27 months which he passed and I took the MCHAT which he scores a 0

The nursery are working with him on it. Thats all I've been told. Yesterday and Thursday he refused to let them change his nappy. He is NEVER had a problem with anyone changing his nappy. I did ask them should I just pull him out and they said no, it would be the worst thing to do for him.

I am just so heartbroken for him

Request a meeting with the nursery so you can discuss DS’s needs and the support he requires.

If they need more advice on how to support DS, they can ask for advice from the Area SENCO. If your LA still has them, they can also ask the specialist teaching service. If they need more funding to support DS, in some areas early years inclusion funding is available from 2y/o. You can look at an EHCP if needed.
