I was searching on facebook for group that might be of interest to me as my dd has spastic diplegia - look what I found: www.facebook.com/s.php?q=spastic+&n=-1&k=200000010&init=r

Can you believe that people out there describe themselves as 'spastic' if they lose there mobile phone? and the 'spastic drawing' group is run by people from top uk universities. .

I have reported the spastic drawings group to facebook as offensive but the rest of it? there is just so much. Fucking imbeciles.

I don't use it either riven, but yes the people on the link are using it as a nickname.

Zickensprechenunsinn · 31/05/2008 10:58

I have never used facebook or Myspace and i don't care to start.

Unfortunately,I had to correct someone recently (a mum,ex-friend) because they used the word 'retard' to be nasty about someone.

It didn't make me very popular-eyebrows were raised-I couldn't believe the reaction I got when this woman had been completely out of order!

You get it with ASD, too. A very nice woman I know described her ex as 'Asperger's', meaning inadequate. And Ian McEwan wrote (in relation) to 9/11 that it was empathy that makes us fully human

My personal bugbear is people sticking their tongue out into their bottom lip to mean "stupid". dd has cp (and a tongue thrust) and I find this so deeply offensive.

Bit like eastenders (yes I know it's not real!) last night when Bianca told her little girl not to throw an "epi" because she didn't get her own way. Definitely not one of my favourite phrases.
