leg extensions for a paed / narrow wheelchair

I've tried just about everywhere and everyone and they've all been nice and lovely but haven't had the damn things.

My son needs leg extensions for a wheelchair - he can either be in a large paediatric or small adult (narrow adult) one. Does anyone have any to sell or know somewhere that has them in stock? We haven't gotten the wheelchair yet, so can go with whatever.

Shot in the dark here, but thought I'd give it a go. Apols in advance for not answering right away - my mother is going to be here in about 30 mins so I need to do some frantic last minute straightening. Thanks!

JJ - are you sorted? Have only just got back and not looked at any of my e mails or anything - can your local NHS Trust Occupational Therapy / rehabilitation service help you? After endless trailing aroud private and charitrable sources fro wheelchair technology, I discovered that the NHS service was the only real source...just hard to track down as hadn't been receommended by our hospital who appeared not to know!

Yes! Thank you. It took 3 days of non-stop googling and phone calls to do it, but it's done. How did you get in touch with the NHS OT service?

One of the woman at Mobility Megastore found what I needed and organised it all; she was very helpful and I wouldn't have been able to find it without her. Actually, there were a few really helpful and kind people : Marius at Welbeck Pharmacy off of Devonshire Street (near Marylebone High St) and the lady on the phone at Disability Living Foundation who helped me figure out what is what in wheelchairs. Am including those for anyone who does a search!

And and and, I just found out this morning that the gym I go to has a seat thingy to lower people into the pool that need it. Yay! Kids can go every morning from 9-11am and it's wheelchair friendly and friendly otherwise as well. Am quite happy today, as you might expect!

The pool sounds good! Will he enjoy that?

In the end our regular physio contacted the OT at the rehab centre...our NHS trust has a whole raft of provision provided under some sort of community basis - i don't really understand the structure - but physio, orthotics, wheelchair provision all come under it, as well as things like family thereapy, child psychotherapy etc. Our consultant appreared not to know about the wheelchair provision, and sent me on a right old wild goose chase.
