We recently discovered local pool has a swim for disabled children or children with additional needs on Saturday afternoon.
Really happy as DS loves water/swimming but can get overwhelmed by too many people.
DH has taken him for a couple of weeks and it's always been quiet sometimes they are the only ones in the pool.
DH took him today and there was a children's party going on alongside the disabled swim, in the same pool.
Obviously the party kids were noisy and enjoying themselves. DS has a huge meltdown because of sensory overload. DH calmed him down and asked if he wanted to swim (he's non verbal but does understand some things). DS began pulling DH towards the exit so they came home.
It seems so unfair that they'd hold a party alongside a swim for children with additional needs. I mean it's obviously about money but surely they can't advertise something as a swim for disabled children/children with additional needs and then have a party at the same time.
Just another experience ruined for DS.
Forgot to say he is autistic, we weren't just using the pool because it was quiet.
